There are many misconceptions about the do’s and don’ts during the credentialing process when you are purchasing a practice or joining a new practice as an associate or owner. The truth is, credentialing takes time and no matter what dental insurance people tell you, always prepare for the worst. Some PPO’s take a full year to get credentialed. Most are between 60 to 120 days. But be prepared for insurance plans to lose your paperwork, request the same items over and over again; and even give you the wrong effective dates. It would be so great to not deal with the crap that comes with credentialing and both Ben and Jordan give some advice on how to best deal with and prepare for credentialing issues.
